Ward is telling Markham that his graduating class is giving the Library a gift of $600.00 to buy a collection of Modern poetry. He wants it to be the very best and he is asking Markham for suggestions. Now, Markham response to his letter on the same sheet giving him a list of about 26 different poets, (Robert Frost, Emily Dickenson, William Watson etc..) These are people who should be part of his collection for the library.
